2017 All About Austen Challenge

For as long as I can remember, Jane Austen has always been, and probably always will be my favorite author. First Impressions Reviews is hosting the All About Austen Challenge which runs from January 1, 2017 through December 31, 2017. I can't pass this challenge by. It's a perfect reason (not that I need one) to revisit these novels and films that I love so dearly. Perhaps I will find some new favorites as well since the challenge allows anything inspired by originals as well (films, the spin off series, etc.).

Here are the challenge levels:

Austen Adventurer — read/watch 3 items

Austen Aficionado — read/watch 6 items

Austen Addict — read/watch 12 items

Austen Addict here! I'm in for at least 12!

Charlie Brown Christmas Dance

After all these years...this still makes me smile!
Happy first day of Winter to all! With all of the fun, festivities, family and food during the holidays, this truly is my favorite time of year. Although living in Florida, we don't get as much cold weather as I would like. Some days it still feels like summertime outside. I hope one year to actually experience a white Christmas, but that will require a trip somewhere. It's on the bucket list!

The Mysterious Affair at Styles

Agatha Christie

This was a re-read for me, but as it has been so many years since I first read it, it felt new again. This book was Agatha Christie's first published book (in 1920) and it was also the book that introduced the world to the marvelous Belgian detective, Hercule Poirot. I thoroughly enjoyed the book, and it is so easy to understand why her mysteries have stood the test of time and are still so popular today. Agatha Christie drops clues like bread crumbs and the trails seem to lead the reader in every possible direction. One minute you're sure one character is the murderer and by the next chapter you're sure it's someone else. Like Poirot's sidekick Hastings, you are still guessing who the murderer is when Poirot makes his big reveal.
